Task One: Haus of Holbein + Six

Image
This is my Rehearsal Log: 21/9/22 This was our first rehearsal of the new dance we are learning for 'Haus of Holbien', it is a different style to the other dances it includes influence of a traditional Germanic style of dance and the is also high in energy and kitschy. A very important stylistic feature in this dance is our facial expressions, everything needs to be over the top including our faces, they need to be quite silly as this song is with the horribly fake German accents to the silly dance moves. A strength of mine today was my control; though the dance moves are quite silly the dance still has to be controlled at not off beat and I believe I achieved this successfully.  The video below is Six, I think I did better last week personally, from looking at it I can tell it is the end of the day and I can see my focus is not completely there, as I am behind and slow to some movements. Watching back I find this quite embarrassing as it is unprofessional. For next week I wa...

Task One: Get Down rehearsal

Image
15/09/22 This was our first rehearsal of 'Get Down' what was different in this choreography compared to the others was that the Queens were left to choreograph what we wanted, I really enjoyed this as it meant I got to add my personal flare to the moves and make sure I connected to them.

Task One: Key Features of Jazz Dance

Image
Date: 21/9/22 Key Features of Jazz Dance used in Musical Theatre: Isolations, Syncopations, Rhythm, Use of Pelvis, Bent Knees, Sensuality, Rotations, and Opposition of Body Parts. in the image above; i am moving my hips/pelvis whilst also doing a hand isolation on my hip for a sexy sensual feeling in the image above; i have bent knees so it is easier for me to have more fluidity in my body whilst moving my pelvis/hips to give a sensual feeling to the movement. in the picture above everyone is doing finger clicks but moving only their hand which is an isolation and causes focus to be on their hands.

Task One: Ex Wives + Six dance rehearsal

This is my Rehearsal Log: 14/9/22 Today was the first rehearsal where we were in our correct places for the dance, we have now been casted and I am lucky to be able to play a principle part and I look forward to more rehearsals and giving it my all. This week we did it without a backing track with vocals as the casted characters sang their parts, this was an extra thing to worry about as singing and dancing is harder than just doing one or the other. However, I pre-empted this so practiced as soon as I knew I had the part so I was ready. Now I have the part I see that I have added my own personal flourishes to the dance that I see fitting for my character, so in par with that I believe a strength I portrayed this week was characterisation. a physical straight I portrayed better was coordination. Last week I targeted myself to work on the dance moves and to make my dancing tighter. I think this is totally accomplished in the choreography we worked on the week prior and looking at l...

Task One: Ex-Wives Dance First rehearsal

Image
This is my Rehearsal Log: 7/9/22 This was our very first rehearsal for Six, at this point we had not been casted so the spacing is off and the biggest focus for me was trying to wrap my head around the choreography. The dance we are doing is 'Ex-Wives'  We had Rob and Charlotte teaching us, I believe strength in my movements were accomplished in this dance, my actions were confident and I when I knew what I was doing I was very confident, see picture below. However I do think I was quite sloppy in the dance overall, it takes me sometimes to wrap my head around the choreography as Im not always very trusting in myself which you can witness in the video as I am often looking at other people to check I'm doing the right thing. So I need to work on my coordination which I will aim to to with this next week with this dance. I can do this by practicing at home in my spare time and running through with my peers, this is a good target as the faster I learn this dance I can focus o...
